That I have already tried to get my airbag inflator replaced, but “parts are not available at this time” (tried multiple dealers).

I installed the pictured protective device, with paint, to improve the airbag’s safety when I plow into a crowd of people at the next C&C event.

That is all.

My parts are rumored to come sometime around June...that is if my car is identified. So.....they don’t know!?

I may or may not have a claymore pointed at my face in the horrible traffic of Maryland.....

I didn’t even get a timeframe! Just “when we know, you’ll get a letter”, lol.

I’m toying with the idea of pulling the airbag fuse.

Is it possible to disable the airbag altogether?

I was told that my model was identified as possibly having a flaw, but my VIN number has not been run to tell me if my part is one of the defective ones. They will let me know in June when they get parts.

I got a fancy letter from BMW letting me know a technology designed in the 70s may or may not be totally defective.

Pulling the fuse would do it. I am tempted, its the question of would I prefer to have an airbag which might kill me, or have no airbags at all?

Of course, it would also disable the passenger and seat airbags, although I rarely carry passengers so its mostly the question of my own life there.

I see! Well the mustang has been known to have one of the suspect inflators for a while, so I guess it should have been no suprise in my case.

Contact the zone rep - sometimes it’s the only way to get a dealer off their collective asses.

Didn’t think of that, thanks!

Be really tempted to pull the fuse. The restraint systems are designed to work in concert with each other, but I’d rather chance minor injuries over potential death. Break some ribs or possible die? Ya, okay, that’s going to hurt but at least I wouldn’t leave behind a widow and fatherless kiddo.

I’m fortunate enough to not have to choose between the two as I don’t have any Takata airbags. I’m also not sure if that opens you up to liability and getting injury claims denied (it might!). Given the opportunity I’d pull the bag and ask the claims adjuster if he/she was willing to stand in front of it when I set it off...

If it were me, I'd take my chances with no airbags.

I agree with Dru. Pull the fuse. The car will still be pretty safe.

Tell them you’re afraid to drive it and demand a loaner. That’ll get it fixed ASAP.

Most manufacturers HAVE parts, they’re just trying to do the moist states first. If you complain enough, and to the right people, they can force an order for yours.

I’d take airbag. Tiny failure rate vs not smashing my head into the steering wheel is worth it

THEY ARE NOT AVALIABLE!!! I have 200+ customers waiting and Subaru cancelled all my orders, because I can’t physically order them. They don’t allow it. And didn’t for 3 months. They just started to let us order. I can order a maximum of 5 a day, and they come when they have some. I have received 11 of my x amount ordered yet. Takes months to get them when ordered. I even have had cars here for 3 months and Subaru is paying for their rentals because they feel unsafe in their vehicle, but I can’t fill their order even when Subaru wants us to because they can’t fill the order. They aren’t lying or being lazy, they physically can’t make enough to fill the orders.

Oh I’m quite aware it goes back to the supplier! I appreciate that its not Ford’s fault.
